Wheeler Peak is the the highest point in New Mexico at 13,161 and the 13th for states.  It is named for a surveyor and naturalist who lead teams to explore the area.

I made the summit after climbing from the Taos ski village at 9,207 feet.

It is the highest municipality in the U.S.
